Now it's time to think local to act global.
The Endangered Challenge is an eye opening experience addressing how our everyday choices and lifestyle affects species around the world.
Focusing on our closest relatives in the Zoo, Gorillas and Orang-utans, students will discover the links between themselves, their actions, and the fate of these amazing animals.
Students will be inspired and empowered to take part in Zoos Victoria's community conservation campaigns, They're Calling On You and Don't Palm Us Off, which are targeted to save these species. The challenge for the students is to change their behaviours!
It's easier than you might think to make a positive difference for endangered wildlife.

Pre-visit Activities
1. Challenge students to collect as many old mobile phones as possible and bring them to the Zoo on the day of your excursion. Why do this? Mobile phones and gorillas are, unfortunately, linked very closely. Students will discover more during their session.
2. Watch The Burning Season DVD and investigate the issues it presents to wildlife in Indonesia.
3. See what other schools have done to take action for Gorillas and Oran-utans in our Schools Showcase.
