Herbivores, Carnivores and Constrictor Jaws is designed to meet the requirements of the School-assessed Coursework (SAC) component for Outcome 2 (practical activity). It addresses the key knowledge and skills related to VCE Biology Unit One, with particular emphasis on the diet, dentition and digestion of animals.
In this hands-on lesson, students will study skulls of herbivores, carnivores and omnivores, discussing the significance of teeth such as carnassials and molars. Study of animal scats is discussed as another important tool in identifying the diet and dentition of animals. Students will also meet a number of Discovery Centre animals in this engaging and highly informative session!
On completion of the student trail students can write up a summary report that can be assessed for their SAC.
