The birth of our elephant calves marks the beginning of a new journey for elephants in Australia: The first female elephant born on our shores, the first elephant conceived through artificial insemination and the first elephants to be born at Melbourne Zoo.
Mali now has a little brother to play with, and to help continue Melbourne Zoo's breeding program for this threatened species.
Melbourne Zoo is offering the opportunity to meet our latest ambassadors for Asian Elephants. Visitors will be able to spend time with Mali, Ongard, and the rest of the herd.
Grab front row seats and watch the herd romp in the paddock, with a chance to meet some of our female elephants up close.
