Burrun, one of the two Platypus born at Healesville Sanctuary in October, has a new home.
He departed Healesville Sanctuary this week and headed to Brisbane’s Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre, as part of a national breeding program.
Burrun, which means dusk or night light, was named to honour the Wurundjeri people whose lands encompass the area where Healesville Sanctuary is today.
Burrun and his sister Waddirrang are both second generation captive bred Platypus – the first to be bred anywhere in the world.
