Lex

Lex the Lace Monitor

Lex has made a lucky escape from the fires that ripped through his home near Kinglake. Now comes the recovery - from his injuries and then finding a new habitat where Lex can rebuild his life.

Lex the Lace Monitor was brought into the Healesville Sanctuary one week after the devastating fires near Beveridge. He suffered severe burns to his nose and feet so staff wasted no time bathing his wounds and administering much needed pain relief.

Like most native animals, Lex has been traumatised by his experience so the staff have kept him safe near a heat lamp and have given him regular painkillers. As soon as Lex is well enough, he will enjoy a meal of his favourite foods - chicken, rats and mice.
