Zoos Victoria is the proud recipient of the 2008 Governor of Victoria Export Award in the area of Sports, Events, and Tourism.

More than 123,000 international visitors include Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary, or Werribee Open Range Zoo as part of their Victorian tourism experience.

Each one of the three Zoos Victoria parks provides a unique experience.

Melbourne Zoo is an historic inner city zoo that offers visitors a window to the world of wildlife, highlighting global biodiversity with displays of more than 250 species of amazing animals from Australia and around the world.

Visitors can be surrounded by Australian butterflies, follow the Asian Rainforest trail to view tigers, elephants, and orang-utans, see the gorilla group in their African Rainforest setting, or see one of the world's most endangered insects!

Werribee Open Range Zoo is located just 25 minutes west of Melbourne, set along a beautiful stretch of the Werribee River. The zoo is home to a number of magnificent grasslands species in an open range naturalistic setting.

The guided safari tour and walking trails provide visitors with face-to-face views of some of the world's most magnificent wildlife. The zoo displays 45 species from Africa, Asia, and Australia's grasslands.

Healesville Sanctuary is one of Australia's iconic attractions and offers visitors an experience of viewing more than 200 Australian wildlife species in their natural setting, the Australian bush. The Sanctuary is only an hour from the city, in the beautiful Yarra Valley.

The Sanctuary features large walk-through exhibits, flight aviaries, and nocturnal exhibits that are well designed to show the fascinating natural behaviors of Australia's unique wildlife. The bird presentations feature colourful parrots and magnificent birds of prey.

All three Zoos Victoria parks are open every day of the year from 9am - 5pm.

Zoos Victoria is proud to support the Australian Export Awards through its activities in the tourism sector.

The Australian Export Awards provide the nation with an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of exporters and to raise the profile of the export industries as a whole.

Winning the Governor of Victoria Export Award qualifies Zoos Victoria as an entrant in the Australian Export Awards, which will be announced in December.
